Not so... lots of the more expensive, sub-meter GPS receivers can give
position updates at >1Hz. I'm just looking for a cheap one :O). BTW, I'm not
interested in the PPS output, but rather position information.

More accurate navigation... At high rates of turn or accelerations, 1Hz GPS
solutions don't really cut it. It's very easy to outrun your position
information.
