Amusing anecdote- i got emailed by our rep at microsoft with a
recommendation to install the patch to prevent the RPC exploit- he attached
the exe, but outlook said it was potentially harmful and wouldn't let me
have access!! I did laugh.

Look under Tools>Options...>Security tab.  The top section says "Virus
Protection".  There are two radio buttons, then two check boxes.
The second check box says "Do not allow attachments to be saved
or opened that could potentially be a virus."

Uncheck that box.  Note that this does make you quite a bit more
vulnerable, so be careful!  Also note that this is on my PC, with
Win2k and OE 6...YMMV
