Mike :-) Joe Mann wrote: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ PICList, I am a hobbyist and am subscribed to this list primarily to help me learn something about these wonderful devices. The dialogs which occur here, at the highest technical levels and at the most basic introductory levels, all seem to have something for me. A number of the [OT]: and [EE]: posts have been most enlightening. Why don't I post to PICLIST? I have not chosen to post to this list in the past due to a fear of the consequences of reacting to one of Olin's tirades which was aimed at me. If I were to say something stupid, or mis-spelled, or technically wrong, or not to Olin's liking, I know Olin wouldn't be able to control his need to show his superiority. I would receive a response from him, stating in no uncertain terms, in as threatening a tone as possible, which one of his rules I had broken. I would then react and the list Admins would revoke my membership. I don't need that. For whom does Olin Speak? On occasion Olin attempts to speak for over 2000 list members. I don't know how many have given him that right. I, however, have not. What can be done? Create another topic, say [BEGINNER]: or [NOVICE]: or [HOBBYIST]: or whatever, which would allow people a haven from unwarranted attacks. As outlined in the thread concerning list administrator's duties, quarantine his posts for review. If he can't play nice with others, then so long Olin. What if Olin isn't there to answer our questions? Someone else will, no one will, or we will read the manual. If you must have Olin's answers, I'm sure he'll provide that service for a fee. I don't much care one way or the other, but either he's civil, or he's history.
