I don't think anyone is saying that there aren't bugs, but from your
descriptions there are such fundamental things that don't work (such as the
overlayed memory model) that I'd have expected a LOT more people to have
been asking questions, both on here and on the HiTech forums/mailing list.

I have used V8.01PL3 for a non critical application (in house evaluation
board) and saw nothing like these problems, and although not large, the
project used pretty much the whole stack depth with many functions
containing local variables.
