I did see something on the website stating specifically that the 'f876A isn't considered acceptable. However, I just looked again and can't find that reference, so it may be okay. My thinking: try it and see. I believe that the A series is electrically identical to the original, and the primary difference is in adding some peripheral function. As long as you have the 20 MHz resonator on your board, and you keep the old chip, you should always be able to go back. Just make sure you do the diagnostics before putting in a new PIC and trying to program it. BTW, you can just load this firmware as a regular hex file now. You don't need to use the "Load Firmware..." option from the file menu. Please let me know if this works...I have some A's as well that could come in handy for that purpose. Mike H. >Hi all. The website states that you need a 16f876. I >happen to have a few extra 16f876a. Will it work? _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
