$1000 can get you plenty of nice things for your very own little lab from
eBay: at the very least, a used 100 MHz dual-trace analog oscope, a new dual
0-30V + 5V fixed power supply, a used 20 MHz or so function/sweep generator,
a new/used temp-controlled soldering station.....what else?

I'm currently on this quest. Just netted myself a used 300 MHz 4 channel
oscope (Tek 2465A) for $355. Will let you guys know when I'm done....
