source= http://www.piclist.com/postbot.asp?id=piclist\2003\07\30\090232a Bob Axtell says "Actually, the VERY BEST solution would be for us to buy our own time..." Nice idea Bob, but if this funding is so available, why haven't more people contributed at the support page ALREADY? http://www.piclist.com/support Did all of you send a buck to Jory? To MIT for the years they have hosted the list at no charge? I put in god knows how many hours and bitch about it on a regular basis and my tax return says that donations were less than $800 last year all of which I spend (plus some of my own) to get us a good server for the web site. It didn't begin to pay for my time OR to pay the connection costs. The site could have been run for less on a rented server, but it would not have had the features it did and would not have held my interest and the bandwidth has now reached the point that I think I might be saving money. 2.7 GB last MONTH and we are closing in on 100MB a DAY. I'm not aware of ANY service that you can rent for $200 a year that will support up to 4.4GB per DAY of traffic. It's more like $1200 a year. Finally, I think you all are a great bunch of guys and gals, but I DON'T want to be in business with you. You haven't got enough money and anyway keeping the shareholders happy is like dancing with a millipede. --- James Newton: PICList.com webmaster, former Admin #3 mailto:jamesnewton@piclist.com 1-619-652-0593 phone http://www.piclist.com/member/JMN-EFP-786 PIC/PICList FAQ: http://www.piclist.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
