The camera we are working with is uncooled. It is a bolometer FLIR. The = model we use performs a 1-point update periodically for non-uniformity = correction (NUC). (ie. takes a snapshot of view, places a black metal shutter(to provide = uniform temperature) in front of the lens and then applies correction). We want it to do this when first powered up but then need to stop it = occurring. We have replaced the shutter mechanism with a lens cap so it = is not practical to place it over the lens each time NUC occurs. I have = emailed the manufacturer again with no response from them as yet, hence = we would be interested in hearing from anyone using this particular = camera who may have more information regarding the serial control = ptotocol.=20 The unit is EYE R320B from OPGAL. The = camera manufacturers compensate with coatings or filters. Sony once made a = camera with a rather poor coating (or was it a removable filter?). The result = was that you could see a faint outline of the person (heat source) in their clothing. I believe the sophisticated thermal imaging stuff uses a scanning = bolometer and requires some pretty serious cooling.
