I've been trying for ages to get a SD card to initialize in SPI mode (which is virtually similar to the MMC SPI protocol in both software commands as well as hardware pinouts, with the the only difference being the 2 extreme/extra pins (1 and 9) being pulled up to Vcc). Never worked, giving me random replies. With my stubborn streak whittled down by frustration, I bought a proper MMC card to test....worked first try! I'm hoping it was some sort of physical connection problem (not using a socket yet, using male edge card connectors), since the MMC does have its contact "pins" on the surface, instead of a recessed groove as the SD. Will see once the sockets I've ordered arrive. If the SD still doesn't work, it's grossly out of spec from the Sandisk datasheet (I tried a couple of SD cards, all Sandisk ones though). Any of you succeeded in getting a SD to initialize in SPI/MMC mode? Cheers, Ishaan -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
