I think "reduce" is the keyword here. Note that the O.P. said "This isn't allowed."... Even with a 100% constant voltage at the PIC *input pin*, the design of the ADC (more or less *any* ADC, not only the one inside the PICs) will get a "flickering" at *some* input voltages. My sugestion is still two buttons, "up" andn "down"... Jan-Erik.
