Why do I see mostly 40pin DIP instead of 44pin PLCC cases used for most projects? Is there any reason for choosing DIP over PLCC? Off hand to only reason I can see is that it is required to route lands between pads to access the inner pins of a PLCC socket, but that's not such a big deal, I think.
