Not on a PIC, but I have used the equivalent on a Rabbit processor.

I agree that it is nicer.  However, the original poster (I think) was
talking about the 877-ish PICs that support ICD without a lot of
expensive hardware.  If I recall correctly, that is a small subset of
the available PICs.  My point was that you can do most of what you need
(admittedly less efficiently) with printf statements.  That would allow
him to use other PICs without an ICD.'

Also, I normally do C# and Java development during my day job.  The
ability to do breakpoints/watches/stepping etc is much more important in
those languages than on a PIC because the programs are much more
complex.  There is only so much you can do in 2K - 4K, compared to what
you can do on a PC.
