If 2k words program memory is enough, you might take a look at the 40-pin 16F871. Same family and works with ICD. If 2k words isn't enough, but 4k would work, there is the 16F874. If you can get by with 22 I/O pins there is the 16F876 (same memory and peripherals as the '877), or the '870, '872, or '873 if less memory and fewer peripherals will do the job.
