Code protection is to basically prevent the chip being read and thus helps
in
preventing your code being stolen.

What you are saying pertains to a JW device. If you program a JW (windowed)
PIC with the code protection on, then you cannot reprogram it. In the case
of
flash devices however, they can be erased and reprogrammed whether the code
protection is on or off.
