This is true. But something new always takes time. Just look how long it
has taken microchip themselves to produce a 'new' archicture.

I think it is a great device, a bold iniative from a company who has
been focused on control inherited from an existing architecture. To
branch out and try to push up into larger devices and push into DSP and
attempt to design a brand new architecture inhouse and define a whole
new hybrid device category is a very gutsy move which says a lot about
the thinking of microchip that has moved them to #1 in just over a
decade.

Of course, I don't have access to samples of these chips.  :(
