To add my two bits, I use a combination of mapp gas and oxygen.
That was for welding stainless steel. Home Depot/Lowes
or similar stores carry small bottles of this, plus the
torch you need. IIRC, the torch kit was under $50. a bottle
of oxygen about $8. Kind of expensive for the oxygen, especially
considering it only lasts 10 to 15 minutes. But mapp & oxygen
together get much hotter than just mapp gas by itself.
