Try the TPS7233 (from TI, available at Digikey) --- I assume your base Vcc
is 5V, and that's OK since this is a LDO (low dropout) regulator. Comes in
both 8-PDIP and 8-SOIC, 2% tolerance, $1.33@Digikey. Features sleep and
voltage sense.

ONSemi also has some 3.3V LDOs in SOIC/D(2)PAK packages:  see
