No, I don't rewrite what is already described prefectly clear in the 18F programming manuals ;) The bottom line is that the 18F's (but most other PICs too!) can be programmed in different ways. Saying for instance 'a 16F84 programmer will program a 16F877' is a bit inaccurate, more accurately would be 'an algorithm exists that can progrogram both 16F84 and 16F877', implying that there is (probably) also an algorithm that can program a 16F8 but will fail on a 16F877. So for what I was answering: the algorithm used by my Wisp628 is the same for all 18F's, but there are also other ways to program 18F's that probably differ from chip to chip. So off-hand there is no guarantee that a programmer (PS+ in this case) that can do say an 18F242 will also do an 18F1230.
