Hi Gus, On Microchip's web site there is a document that explains the details regarding ICD communication -- it's been a long time since I looked at it -- not sure if it is applicable to the new PIC18F architecture. If you want to make your own ICD with a GUI interface, it will require a lot of work which is fine if you have the time and want to learn. If you are pressed for time, buying one of Microchip's ICDs is a good choice -- at least they will be there to stand behind their product if you need help.. Enter a search in google -- I think some people have already made their own ICD circuits and PC software. Good luck.
