Well, First thanks to all who offered help to solve this problem. It seems I have found the culprit, a innocent looking spool of water soluble solder. I did some research on the net and found that humidity and water soluble flux don't mix, the flux can actually be slightly conductive. So the lack of proper cleaning on my part, the fact that the boost converter is working at 1Mhz or so and the use of rather large feedback resistors led to me losing about half the hair on my head. Well after the use of rosin core solder the circuit works just like it's suppose to. Again thanks to all and I hope this saves someone some time some day. I guess I should also crosspost this to "[OT]: You know you have been working too late when..."
