> Any reason why some parts have just the >NAME, some have >NAME and > >VALUE and others have >NAME >NAME >VALUE? On the package, not the > schematic. All parts show both the name and value in the symbol (schematic). All parts also have the name printed in silkscreen in the package. This is the minimum that's really needed. I added extra name and value strings in some packages if there was room. The value strings can be long, like "12F629-I/P". Even using 50mil text size, this can't fit inside an 8 pin DIP outline. In such cases, I left it off. Some packages give plenty of room for additional writing, like a 40 pin DIP. In these cases I could use larger lettering and print both the name and value inside the package outline. Note that this is a relatively minor issue as this text will be covered up by the part. I usually kept the external name string small to be less in the way on tight boards. Any text inside the part footprint is "free", but also of limited use. ***************************************************************** Embed Inc, embedded system specialists in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, http://www.embedinc.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
