Most surge strips are rather useless....as they have a single MOV across the hot to gnd leg. To fully protect, you need to put it across line to gnd, neutral to gnd and hot to nuetral. Typically, these will catch fire and burn IF you get a big enuf surge and long duration. Littlefuse has a series of devices called TMOV, that is interanally 'fused' to prevent them from catching fire. Course, once burned out...it isn't doing its job. What I need to find is a MOV that is a 250V and GS ( I think...the German standard) approved. Anyone have a line of these? They must exist else how would you have a surge protected device in Europe? Of course, after what Olin said, maybe I don't want to use a MOV in the products destined for Europe _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your e-mail with MSN 8.
