This may be a newbie thing, but:

You know you have been working too late when you cant figure out why
you can't program the chip and find that you put '00000011' instead of
'11000000' into the 16f628 on port b.

It is 2 am here in Texas.  I just spent fifteen minutes trying to figure
out why my circuit wasn't working.  Turns out the PIC was still in the
programmer.  :-)
