Further to my attempt to create a cable IDer. How can I generate a unique "code" to be sent along a twisted pair cable? The ID say 1001 1001 1001 1001 sent constant from one end would have to be read at the far end with a device that could display the code received. So one end has a device sending a coded sequence the near end would have to be able to READ that code and display on a LCD or LED which code it was receiving. Then if I can read this info how can I program the far end device to send a different code down different outputs? Say I have 5 cables I want to send a different code down each cable, the near end device should than pick up which cable code is being detected Tx attached to Code cable LCD Display Cable one 1001 1001 1001 >>>>>>>>>>> Cable #1 Cable Two 1101 1101 1101 >>>>>>>>>>> Cable #2 How many unique codes could I generate that would output to individual output lines per chip? -- George Shaw MI3GTO =93 Any Sufficiently Advanced Technology is Indistinguishable from Magic=94 ---Arthur C.
