FYI: For those who program PICmicros in C, want to improve their code quality, and don't know about PC-lint (I'm sure many of you have used this tool) read on: PC-lint is a great static source code analysis tool that can really help you write better code and save you from making mistakes -- obvious or non-obvious. It's a good idea to add it to your firmware release checklist: Run source code through PC-lint. I've used this tool for checking the C code I wrote with the Hi-Tech PICC/PICC-18 compiler and it saved me from some embarrassing errors I would not have caught otherwise. It's one of those tools which provide a quick return on your investment (just as a C-compiler does for PICmicros) -- fast cheap labor! However, nothing is a panacea -- every tool has to be used properly; you still need to spend the time to interpret the results, but it is definitely worth the effort in my opinion. Check out www.gimpel.com for more details (obviously it is for any C/C++ source code).
