I'm using JAL (just to get used to PIC's until I can learn more about =
the ASM calls) and it has libraries for both of these chips.  Soon as my =
kit gets in I just need to figure out how to upload a program to it :).  =

The basic diy programmers are essentialy the same for all the flash type
PIC's, you are unlikely to need any new hardware (apart from a simple
adapter if your programmer does not have the correct socket).  It really
boils down to wether your programming software supports the 676 device.
