>Any ideas for cleaning/repairing the pot? It's one of these > little flat ones with a toothed wheel mounted on top. > TIA! I've got one of those on a bedside radio. From time to time it's had a squirt of contact cleaner (eg WD40), meths or CD cleaner like propanol. The noise goes away for a while but comes back. I think the problem is not dirt but loose carbon. Light machine oil is the last thing I tried and that seems to be doing the trick as the wiper moves the loose stuff to one end and the oil holds it there. The only trouble with oil is that it can migrate if you overdo it. If you can get to the pot and actually clean it out first that would probably help, but if the track is breaking down the problem will more than likely re-occur as the wiper knocks bits off. Another solution is to reverse the connections to the pot so as to use the other end of the wiper travel, which may not be so noisy as it's been less used than the low volume end -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
