I don't know if you are referring to me or not, but about a year ago I had
all sorts of trouble programming a 16f628 with the YAP-II programmer
(basically I never got it to work).  I think I got some suggestions to try
a WARP-13 programmer, which I did.  I did buy one, and have successfully
progammed the '628 parts on many occasions.  I did have a little bit of
trouble finding software to program it under linux, but did get some
working.  The situation may be better now.
