Herbert, I've not seen the whole of this thread, but you stated in the earlier mes= sage=20 that VB is "dung", "hell-spawn", etc, and made it fairly clear that you h= ate=20 it. Here, you seem to want to explain why, but instead make a case that = VB=20 is a poor choice for a *first* language. They're not the same argument. = I=20 don't see an explanation why VB itself is bad. Also, bad or good needs to be qualified for certain situations and=20 environments. Everything has it's place, and perhaps given certain=20 conditions and criteria, VB may be a good choice. The efficiency and=20 reliability of the resulting application are unfortunately not the only=20 factors in choosing a development language. BTW, I'm not stating above that you're right or wrong about VB being crap= , nor=20 about BASIC being a good/bad first language. Everyone has a different=20 learning style, and I think BASIC can be a great first language for many=20 people, especially "non-techies".
