Test results for writes to various Compact Flash cards. Wide variation. Some details re brand inside card. http://www.hypercamera.org/Memoires%20et%20lecteurs/Performances%20Cartes%20transcend/Comparatif.htm Links from this page ALL seem broken but info here is useful. Google: Wanted to see how my CF cards should perform. _____________________________________________ I have discovered that all CF can very much be not equal. I have a 356 MB and a 512 MB from the same manufacturer and nominally identical in performance. The larger card takes 60% to 70% longer to write data to the card in the same camera. Opinions as to why vary. What should have been a highly competent official source said the problem was probably due to the card being a 5V card whereas the proper part was their 3V3 version. What should have been an even more competent source (actual supplier stage 2 tech in US) said that was all rubbish and cards were same voltage - the 2nd card used a faster technology. Alas the second man appears correct. The 512 MB card MAY be faulty. The camera may have an obscure inconsistency. As the long term shooting rate depends on the writing time, such a difference in cards which are nominally identical in spec is quite unacceptable RM -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
