Why not go to an aquarium-store and get a nice heater there? Then if needed mod it for higher temp. Often this is not needed :) KreAture ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Ferrell" To: Sent: Thursday, June 19, 2003 4:26 PM Subject: [OT]: Etchant heater There seems to be a lot of effort going into heating chemicals for etching. The kitchen appliance known as a "Crock Pot" or "slow cooker" works very well. These are usually scrapped when the Ceramic liner is chipped or broken. In that case They are still usefull by using another container inside the damaged component. A water bath will transfer the heat and keep the cooker clean. The whole thing can be set outside from the process start to cool down to keep the fumes out of the workshop. It is a no brainer that the pot should not be used for food after becoing a shop tool. Beware that the frying pans and fryers are inclined to get uncontrollably hot quickly and are therefore dangerous to use in this manner.
