Yes.  Without actual standards and/or agreements, no one else necessarily
understands the subtleties, and it's just an 'affectation' of sorts.  On the
other hand, I find that it helps a bit WRT the discipline of WRITING.  When
I say something, I like to keep track of how seriously I'm taking myself...

(Hmm.  There ought to be a python-esque dictionary that (mis) translates all
those internet acronyms into particularly offensive phrases...)
