The QRP (very low power) community is exciting for me, because there is a lot of experimentation and expertise there. But the old mystique of being able to talk to far away places with strange sounding names is not quite the same because the Internet provides the same thing without having to be licensed. Hams are a dying breed, with new blood not replacing the old guys as they become silent keys. But, as I say, this is only my perception.
