yes I am using the internal RC atm. I didn't read the oscilator section of the datasheet propperly (missed the 1st page) all is well now. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ben Hughes" To: Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2003 1:29 PM Subject: Re: [PIC]: Disgruntled PIC Beginner Questions > You're way off the planet :) > A 16F628 has builtin 4MHz osc, just set the config bits that you program to be IntRC, for a crystal use XT for 4MHz or below and HS for above 4MHz. A crytal will need 2 caps from each side to ground, there should be a table in the datasheet with the correct values, but I've always used 22pF and they work just fine ........ > Maybe you are getting confused with the possible external clock for TIMER1 ? > > > > > From: Jake Anderson > > Subject: Re: [PIC]: Disgruntled PIC Beginner Questions > > Date: 17/06/2003 12:47:16 > > To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU > > > > Perhaps my terminology is lacking. > > In the datasheet it needs a 74AS04 along with some caps to get a series cut > > crystal to run as the oscillator.
