Thanks for all your input about the ADC resolution question. It was very educational! It helps me to remember how much there really is to learn out there! However, I now have a more technical question. I have a 12 V marine battery and I need to get +/- 5 V from it. I need very clean power, since the amplifier this is intended to power is VERY sensitive (> 5 mV of ripple causes it to go haywire). I've tried using an LMC7660 from National, but it seems too dirty to use. Does anyone have any "pet" products they use which take +12 V and produce -5V? Or +5V and produce -5V?
