Hi Olin & Others, I understand what you are saying - I ignored indicating that I have already studied the datasheet... actually, datasheets is so much a common part of my life these days I dont even buy a component unless I have its datasheet first... of course, things like resistors and led's (except for IR leds) are excluded from this :) So, somewhere along the lines they have become so common that I dont think about them all that much... its just part of the cycle.. HOWEVER, I am proud to say that I managed to get it to work with a little help from Peter Schultz who sent me to .LST file of a compiled CCS C program - I read through the code and added all the exception code which is required to talk to the EEPROM via two wire without using I2C. It seems to be working great at the moment, so if anyone ever needs the ASSEMBLY code to use a 24LC256 without using I2C (This means it will probably work on other processors which dont have I2C like 16F84 or the like) you're welcome to send me some mail and I will gladly assist you where I can. I now have 32Kbytes of EEPROM and 32Kbytes of SRAM on my prototype board... now for the rest :) Once again, Thanks Peter. I thought I was giving you useful information that the data sheet was both necessary and sufficient to solve your problem. ***************************************************************** Embed Inc, embedded system specialists in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, http://www.embedinc.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu ************************************************************ Scanned by @lantic IS Virus Control Service This message was scanned for viruses and dangerous content. @lantic Internet Services (Pty) Ltd. - http://www.lantic.net eScan for Windows-based PCs - http://www.escan.co.za ************************************************************ -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
