Please blame me as hard as you can, when I post nonsense
like your post against Olin right to express his approach.

Asking questions like "why bother responding at all?" is
Admin's work, not yours, as for me.

Say "thank you for having different opinion" to Olin, maybe
he is right; who knows; at least he sure is not a "Dude".

Personally, I've found his "common theme" post very
interesting regardless of do I agree with him or not.
In fact, I'd state his "common theme" thoughts are much
more useful to newbies and dudes :-) than just "plain"
replies.(They could save them from staying newbies and
dudes forever)

I think that taking few hours break before posting such
insulting things isn't a bad idea. (Still, I wish I could
resist to respond quickly)
