That would be MOSTEK's doing, IIRC. One of their design teams developed an alarm clock controller IC and put an image of a Mickey Mouse watch on the silicon mask. Someone later informed an electronics trade magazine/journal of the existence of said artwork, they decapsulated a chip, took a photo of the "artwork" and slapped it on the cover!
