The problem with charging slowly like this, is that you can't reliably sense the end of charge.  What if the battery started out at 50% capacity?  or 90%?

180ma into a 750mAH cell isn't what you'd normally call a trickle rate.
For NIMH cells, this number should be closer to 2.5 mA or you're headed for voltage depression.
