no because linux users are more computer litterate than windows users (as a whole) they keep their software up to date and don't run programs entitled "run me now for hawt action.scr.pif.exe" that they randomly recieve in their email. If a linux user ran a program that was designed to email itself everybody on their address book/contact list whatever then it would do the same thing. This has basically *Nothing* to do with OS and a whole heap to do with the nut behind the wheel. In short this isnt a linux Vs windose issue its a question of userbases and personally I would appriecate it if the linux nuts would realise this and "GET OVER IT!" ffs. I use windows for my desktop and have done so for 10 years or so and in all that time I have never had any form of virus. I have achieved this without having any form of AV running continously (I do occasionally run the symantec online virus scanner occasionally to be sure). The closest I have come is some suspect floppies that I ran MSAV over and removed Anti.Cmos- A. I also run a win2k web server, as yet no infections of any type though I must admit I did put it up after the peak of red worm and was verry sure to install the patch before bringing it online. To me this indicates that "windows" isn't the problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Dattalo" To: Sent: Sunday, June 08, 2003 1:22 PM Subject: Re: [ADMIN]:looks to me like we got a virus here. > On Sun, 8 Jun 2003, Russell McMahon wrote: > > > WOULD ALL LIST MEMBERS PLEASE RUN THE DETECTION/REMOVAL TOOL THAT DENNIS HAS > > IDENTIFIED. > > Hmm, It doesn't run under Linux, Russell.
