One source for the TSOPxxx modules are actualy our friend Wouter : http://www.voti.nl/shop/products.html. I'm on a project where I thought about using these, but for other reasons (had to buy other stuff) went with a similar module from Farnell (order code 414-2858) : http://international1.farnell.com/Search/level_5.jhtml?PRODID=165897&SKUID=163484. called HIM702HM. Just got them the other day, so I can't tell you much about them... I have not seen any of these in DIP packages. You probably would like it to stand out a bit from the PCB anyway. Jan-Erik.
