I do a lot of small battery powered LCD display designs. I've found i= t=20 easiest to use a microcontroller that has LCD drivers on-board, howev= er=20 I also run across the occasional application that warrants a separate= =20 LCD controller (i.e. a really simple micro application, low I/O and= =20 memory needs except for LCD drive). In those cases, I have had great luck with Philips I2C LCD controller= s. I keep a tube of PCF8566's in my engineering stock even. They do=20 static, 1->4 backplanes, on-chip bias generator, work from 2.5 to 6V= =20 and are really low power devices. Easy to use and versatile. Arrow generally has them in stock and you can buy them online. Last I checked they were ~$3USD in single piece qty. http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/pip/PCF8566U_F1.html=20 Matt Pobursky Maximum Performance Systems -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
