Well, for the "fun" of it I've decided to jump into the "C" environment, just to get a taste of the waters (mostly since HiTech allows hobbyists to use their free PICCLite compiler). I do have most of the basics set, it's working with MPLAB and a "Hello World" program compiles fine. However I do have a few questions. I'm using MPLAB 6, how do I get MPLAB to output the error messages from the compiler??!? All I get now is "build failed", not too useful... how can I get MPLAB to report what line the compile failed. Failing that how can I get the compiler to output this to a file or something I can reference to find my errors? Second, after having attended Microchip's "corporate seminars" recently (actually found it quite useful, probably because a true engineer was running the show, he left out most of the marketing fluff) I was wondering about MChip's TCP/IP stack. Has anyone succeeded in getting it going on anything OTHER than an 18F? I know they say it'll only work on an 16F but somehow I can't believe that, C is C, isn't it? Has anybody succeeded in getting the PICCLite compiler compiling the basics of the stack? I understand the stack is quite large and the PICCLite compiler has a ROM size limit, I am however still interested in if anyone else has accomplished this?
