An HC688 gate can make a poor man's logic analyzer.

Connect eight clipleads with weak pulldowns on one side, and eight dipswitches on the other side.  When the state on the clipleads matches the dipswitch, you get a pulse on the output pin. A 556 can act as pulse stretcher, and beeper, so you get a "ping" whenever the states match.
