I could implement the PIC -> CF code into the device itself, depending on the physical interconnect required. Using I2C is not necessary, it was just considered because the device is small, and a two-wire interface would be more convenient. There are CF -> RS232 adapters out there, which is another option. There have been various PIC -> IDE/CF implentations around, and adding an I2C to such code should not be too hard. However once you end up here, why have the I2C?
