I'll get to the "free" part shortly, but first let me explain: We've developed a new PIC programmer optimized for cost, but with decent features for the supported PICs. You can see all the details at http://www.embedinc.com/easyprog. The first pilot units are in and working. There is still lots to do before this becomes a product someone can just click and buy. While we're working with issues like packaging, fulfillment, and e-commerce web site, we are looking for understanding individuals to mercilessly beat on a few units. OK, here comes the FREE part: I have a limited number of working pilot units to give away for free. Of course, nothing is ever completely free, so in return you have to run it thru its paces and report problems to me. You can keep the unit after testing is over. You get the programmer unit and the wall wart (US plug, 120VAC 60Hz only for now). I don't have serial cables right now, so you will have to supply your own (only pins 2, 3, and 5 needed). As I said, I only have a limited number and need to make the best use of them. Anyone that would like to test a unit, please send me a private email to olin_apollo@embedinc.com and answer the following questions: 1 - What operating system(s) would you be running the host programs on? 2 - Roughly what is your PIC experience? 3 - What other PIC programmers have you used? 4 - If this programmer works as described, would you use it regularly and be willing to help answer questions about it on the PIClist? 5 - Are you interested in writing your own Windows apps for it or expanding the existing ones (GUI front end, for example)? 6 - Are you interested in creating applications for it on non-Windows systems? If so, which ones? 7 - What is your shipping address, email address, and phone number? Please don't get scared off by what you think I'm looking for as answers. I actually want to spread things around as much as possible, so there may be more of a fit for you than you think. An inexperienced novice can be just as valuable here as an expert, but in different ways. ***************************************************************** Embed Inc, embedded system specialists in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, http://www.embedinc.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
