Okay.  Those are part of  the group of 27 that I was referring to, so
perhaps that is the answer -- Microchip reserves them for some special
feature or another.   Which is their privilege, of course. :-)  But it sure
would be nice to have a few spare ones in there that a lowly user could
have for his or her very own.
