>> This 'boiling', is it good, bad, or indifferent? What does it mean? > > Boiling is a good thing. Most likely not. It's probably not boiling at all, but rather releasing hydrogen sulphide gas due to being overcharged. This is very bad because it removes necessary chemicals from the battery that can't be easily replenished. Hydrogen sulphide can also explode under the right circumstances. Does the battery smell like rotten eggs? If so, it is being damaged. I had this happen to a car battery once when the voltage regulator died. (It's good to have email back, no thanks to Verizon. In a whole week they never got three machine names pointing to the right combination of two IP addresses on their DNS server. They never did fix it. The right solution turned out to be using a different company for DNS and web hosting - after my email was down for several days. I strongly advise everyone to stay clear of Verizon for any kind of hosting service.) ***************************************************************** Embed Inc, embedded system specialists in Littleton Massachusetts (978) 742-9014, http://www.embedinc.com -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
