Wal-Mart now sells a 3-12V adjustable, 1A output SWITCHER, with Radio-shack compatible lead ends. All the pluggy adaptors from shack fit just fine.  It's $15.

Add neon lamps, very good for high voltage protection, as well as making light.

This sounds a lot like my "wall-o-Parts"
Surplus bits picked up cheap, or odds from other projects.
I have a bit more of a bend twoard exotic telco stuff, and a few optics bits for barcode.
