I rather doubt that the Iraqi's thought to jam the P code GPS transmissions, and of course inertial navigation gets you close enough once you have a fix. Though if someone wanted to jam GPS at a fogged in harbor, it could get rather messy. > > DDOS (distributed denial of service) for satellite is extraordinarily > > difficult to combat. To fight criminal minds you have to THINK like them. Duh.... > a ship, can be blown out of the water and is easily seen from above, > approaching and leaving Of course. So the US will then bomb every foreign fishing vessel, freighter, tanker and the like it finds? Again, my point was that it is trivially EASY to jam satellites, and damned hard to pin point the uplink, particularly if mobile. Why do you think all US commercial uplinks are required to transmit a morse coded telephone number on a standard subcarrier? So that unintentional jamming can be more quickly fixed. > and you are also ignoring the fact that the US will dog you to hell and back > for fucking ever if you try this I see. So the USA can do whatever the F' it pleases, but responding in kind is not an option. I guess you guys really didn't learn anything from 9/11. First you have to know the where and maybe the who. Do you have any idea how many satellite uplink trucks are running around your country at any given moment? Any one of which could take out a major comm link for many hours. > and when they find you they will mercilessly kill you and all those who were > helping you Yep, just like the terrorists you claim to be fighting. To hell with due process. If you're a French journalist attending a trade show in L.A., they'll just handcuff you, strip search you a few times, hold you for 26 plus hours on bogus 'irregularities', and then ship you back to France. http://groups.google.ca/groups?selm=daiza.242685%24YZ.34261%40news.easynews.com&oe=UTF-8&output=gplain LOS ANGELES, May 21 (AFP) Six French journalists who came here to cover a video games trade show were sent home after being, searched, handcuffed and held for 26 hours at the Los Angeles Airport for lack of visas, immigration officials said Wednesday... It's exactly this kind of behaviour that earns you the "Ugly American" moniker. And then you wonder why so many people hate the USA?? Why was it that so many of your American compatriots used to tour Europe with a Canadian flag on your gear? Talk about traveling under false pretenses... > radars are easily seen and just as easily destroyed You have again missed my point. I said "old radar unit", attached to big TV dish. Looks just like any one of 10,000 OTHER TV dishes. The point being that high power RF pulses uplinked to a satellite would effectively jam it, with relative ease and undetectability. And you're assuming a continuous transmission. Random jamming would quite effectively disable DTH broadcasts, to say nothing of the propaganda opportunity of taking over all major network downlinks to deliver your 'manifesto' with 'proper' uplink gear. > I encourage you to take your best shot though, give it a try, act... > find allah now, don't wait! What a prick. But then I expected nothing better from you... When you go around the world shoving people around, sooner or later they shove back. And it's only just begun... Save your political rhetoric for a more suitable list. My point on this list is that it is technically quite feasible for the proposed US space policy to backfire in spades.
